Description
The new release by cellist and multi-instrumentalist Michael G. Ronstadt, a member of the multi-generational Ronstadt musical dynasty and the nephew of Linda Ronstadt, includes pieces for solo cello, two cellos, cello & piano, cello & French horn, and piano trio by Rick Sowash. An unapologetically tonal composer and lifelong Ohio resident, Sowash has been writing inventive, creative, evocative, and beautiful music for more than half of a century, with more than 600 musical compositions to his credit. Sowash returned to composing in 2022 after a ten-year hiatus during which time he wrote only a few short pieces. Since then, he has written almost 150 new works, many of them substantial in length and content, sometimes two or three in a week’s time. What brought him back to composing was largely the result of writing his eighth and most recent book, How Music Means. “Writing the book got me to thinking about music again, more deeply than ever. Soon ideas began to tumble forth.”
